You don’t go to the desert to find yourself,
you go to the desert to create yourself.
-Craig Lathem

Five years ago I set out to put together a camper that would allow me to explore and photograph the deserts of the southwest. Since that time I have had a Toyota FJ Cruiser, a 17 foot Casita travel trailer, a $250K+ Earthcruiser, a 4WD Ford F350 flatbed with a Four Wheel Camper and now a 25 foot Airstream Flying Cloud.
Each of these set-ups had their good and bad points. They were all more than capable for what I needed.
At some point you realize there is no perfect rig so you begin the search for the perfect compromise.
Over these pages I will provide some insight as to how I got where I am, mistakes I made along the way, review the gear I used to get here and also share a few stories and pics from my journey along the way.
